Adam Chase, Educator, WSET
What did you study at Harvard?
I studied business administration in the Harvard Business School MBA program. Although there is no concentration in the MBA, my focus was marketing and strategy.
Were you involved with any food or wine activities while a student?
Not really – I missed out! My wine education and interest in wine, spirits and sake came later after I graduated.
Do you think that Harvard has prepared you for a career in food and wine or hospitality in general? If so, how?
Harvard prepared me to succeed in any career I chose because it gave me confidence in my decision making, as well as the frameworks to think through and solve issues and problems. It also helped me build a terrific support network of people to call on for advice or to work with.
What work do you do now?
I run Grape Experience Wine & Spirit School, which is an Approved Program Provider of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET). Our courses are focused in the San Francisco Bay Area and Boston. WSET is the premier global provider – in over 70 countries – of wine, spirit and sake education. Our students work in all aspects of the alcoholic beverage industry – from production to sales and service. We also cater to consumers who want a more structured certificate wine course.
